Current Goals
I set new goals on the anniversary of my returning to ceramics in May every year. Below are the ones I set in 2025.

Sustainability Audit
I am committed to enhancing my pottery skills by applying the valuable insights and methods from Yuliya Makliuk's book, "Potters Save The World," to elevate my sustainability practices in my current making process. Check out my sustainability page for more information.

Give back to Indigenous Nations
I am a Canadian with Ukrainian heritage who learned to throw and continues to practice on the unceded lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, xÊ·mÉ™θkÊ·É™y̓əm, and sÉ™lilwÉ™taɬ nations. Being surrounded by the nature here inspires my art constantly and I feel incredibly thankful to live where I do. I want to show that gratitude through actions and uplift the people who have been exploited in order to allow for me and my ancestors to be here. In other avenues of my life I have learned that these nations generally want financial support and access to opportunities. I will find a way to do one or both of these while ensuring that I leave their homelands in better condition than I found them in. To keep myself accountable to this promise, I will be transparent and publish my actions on my website.

Home studio (complete!)
Within the next year I need to accomplish the following for a functional home studio:
-
Find an affordable kiln firing service (complete!)
-
Buy a wheel (complete!)
-
Sell some stuff to make space for a drying shelf (complete!)
-
Buy or build a drying shelf (complete!)
-
Source a clay supplier (complete!)
-
Set up a reclaim and waste glaze bucket system (complete!)

Learn to make glazes (complete)
I have gotten the basic knowledge needed to make my own glazes, but lack the space to do it properly. For now, I am applying this knowledge by saving money buying dry glazes that are pre-mixed but more specialty.

Build a complete test tile wall on my refrigerator (complete!)
My goal is to have 5 mainstay clays and a test tile of all my commercial glazes, my most used studio glazes, and my favourite combonations on a smooth and textured tile of each clay body. I came up with the idea to put magnets on them and use my fridge as the test tile wall and this is my favourite way to save space in my one-bedroom apartment while having a functional glaze display - 10/10 highly recommend.

Buy a wheel
-COMPLETE-

I was able to save up and pay for my wheel with 10% paid by casual pottery sales.

Register as a business
-COMPLETE-
My low-key hobby sales are becoming a proper side hustle, but the bureaucracy of it all has me confused and overwhelmed. I want to lean in to asking questions and figure out how to make some of my living from the things I make.
